The James Tudor Foundation offers grants to specialist UK charities helping children and young people recover from Adverse Childhood Experiences, or helping parents affected by trauma, mental illness or addiction break cycles of harm within their families. Funding supports evidence-based, trauma-informed services where the charity’s entire work closely matches one of the programme’s eligible areas.

Who can apply?

  • UK-registered charities with annual income below £20 million
  • Established charities with at least five years of audited or independently examined accounts available through the relevant charity regulator
  • Children-first charities whose sole focus is helping children and young people recover from eligible Adverse Childhood Experiences through evidence-based, trauma-informed therapies
  • Specialist charities focused exclusively on whole-family programmes that help parents affected by ACEs, mental illness or substance addiction prevent harm to their children
  • Organisations that are actively led by the people using their services and can demonstrate impact through evaluation or independent research

What can you get?

  • Grants of £5,000–£25,000 per year, with typical awards of £10,000–£15,000
  • Flexible funding towards overall service delivery or a specific project
  • Most grants are for one year, although two- or three-year awards may occasionally be made

Deadline
11 December 2026 (5pm) for Expressions of Interest

Key notes

  • Expressions of Interest for the June 2027 funding round open on 2 November 2026.
  • The charity’s services must fall entirely within an eligible programme category; applications cannot isolate one suitable project from otherwise ineligible work.
  • Eligible work includes specialist support addressing childhood sexual abuse, domestic violence or neglect, parental mental illness or substance misuse, bereavement and complex loss, or having a parent in prison.
  • General counselling, youth wellbeing, mentoring, befriending, sport, nature-based activities, general parenting advice and services for adults who are not parents are among the exclusions.
  • The Foundation does not support volunteer-run charities, schools, CICs, community groups, capital projects or pilot services from charities it has not previously funded.
  • Applicants must first complete the eligibility checker and submit an Expression of Interest. Strongly aligned organisations may then be invited to make a full application.
