Here’s our latest update from Wolverhampton Volunteers.
A busy few months at Wolverhampton Volunteers. Lots of follow ups and enquires generated from National Volunteers Week which saw around 2,300 people engaging with us and the other thirty organisations that attended our two events on the 5th and 6th of June. Thanks to City of Wolverhampton Council for help with these events.
The team has been providing various outreach sessions across the city with a very successful session at Mander Centre JCP. We have been asked to take part with them over the autumn time to provide regular drop-in sessions to their clients to discuss how you can ‘Volunteer to Career’. Between August and September, we will be delivering drop-in sessions first and last Wednesday of each month at Base 25 in Temple Street.
We have produced our new ESV (Employee Supported Volunteering) Directory. We are happy to provide the directory to any local businesses or companies looking to undertake volunteer work as individuals or teams. It contains details of thirty local organisations that welcome and accommodate ESV.
Dave has been busy delivering numerous successful outreach sessions for or WEC (Wolverhampton Engage & Connect) Project where he continues to work with dozens of members of the community to help alleviate social isolation and loneliness and beginning their volunteering journeys.
We have recently been successful in the Black Country wide partnership bid for Volunteering for Health. The programme aims to speed up change by helping to break down barriers to volunteering, test new volunteering infrastructure models, and develop guidance and best practice for all systems. Also to influence the policy environment and increase the understanding of the impact of volunteers and volunteering across the NHS. Very early days to say what this will look like, will provide more news and updates as they happen.
As we enter into August, many peoples focus is on school’s breaking up and much needed holidays, however, Wolverhampton Volunteers are always here over the summer to help with all your volunteering requirements! If you don’t have time to pop in and see us, you can always register on our web site and view many volunteering opportunities www.wtonvolunteers.org.
Don’t forget to follow Wolverhampton Volunteers on our social media platforms for up to date news and all new volunteering opportunities.
