The HAF team have recently met with the Environmental Health Team who have informed us that any organisation that handles food needs to register as a food establishment. This would mean moving forward if you are applying for HAF or half term activities you would need to be registered.
We were previously informed the food handling tick sheet, we sent to summer providers, was adequate. However, there has now been a change and if you are handling food i.e. giving out prepacked food or food that has been supplied by a food provider, you need to be registered.
On the plus side the tick list is a guide to the expectations from Environmental Health on what is expected when handling food for those that completed this. If you would like a copy of this please let the HAF team know and we can send one to you.
The registration form is on line and we have been informed it will take 5-10 minutes to complete and you can register by clicking the link Register a Food Business.
You can find all the information required in this link Registering as a food business | Food Standards Agency and it is free to register.
Any questions you can speak to Emily Fellows, Team Leader Environmental Health on 01902 555190 Emily.Fellows@wolverhampton.gov.uk or contact any of us at the HAF team.
Once registered you will either receive a phone call or visit by one of Emily’s team to ensure you are meeting food handling requirements.
We are aware this is another ask of you when there is already a lot of demand but as a team, we are here to support to ensure Wolverhampton are offering the highest standard of activities to its children and young people.
October Half Term (yowolves) funding applications will be sent out by the end of next week.
Kind Regards
Marie Colton
