Hospice UK’s “Dying Matters Community Grants Programme”, backed by Dignity Funerals, invites UK-based hospices (both children’s and adults’) to apply for funding to run small-scale arts and culture projects that open conversations about death, dying and grief — particularly in communities that are less likely to have been reached so far.
What’s available:
-
A total budget of £40,000.
-
Grants of up to £10,000 for each project.
-
Projects must start during or after December 2025 (or have had a pilot phase) and be delivered by the applying hospice in partnership with a community/arts organisation.
Who should apply & project focus:
-
Lead applicant must be a Hospice UK member organisation in the UK.
-
Projects should engage at least one of the following under-reached groups: racialised communities; people experiencing homelessness; prisoners; LGBTQ+; those in remote/rural areas; people living with learning disabilities; people living in poverty or deprivation.
-
Projects must involve arts or cultural methods (e.g., theatre, mural, game, installation) and be delivered outside of a formal healthcare setting unless justified.
Key expectations:
-
Collaboration with local community/arts organisations
-
Sharing project learning publicly (reports, case studies)
-
Hosting visits or peer-learning as required by Hospice UK
Application deadline:
-
Submit by 5 pm, Friday 5 December 2025. Applicants will be notified mid-February 2026.
