Wolverhampton Volunteers Team: Susan Woolnoughholt, Pete Emms, David Diaram
The past quarter has seen continued growth in volunteering across the city. Wolverhampton Volunteers registered 278 new volunteers, bringing the year-to-date total to 757. With over 200 organisations offering 400+ opportunities, the city’s volunteering offer is diverse, welcoming and well-used.
Engagement remains strong among people aged 19–44, many of whom are seeking work experience, developing skills or rebuilding confidence after setbacks.
Over the summer, the team delivered outreach at community venues, Jobcentres, faith settings and events such as Love Your Neighbourhood. Work also continues on developing a city-wide Volunteering Strategy, helping ensure Wolverhampton has a coordinated, forward-thinking approach to volunteering.
What really brings the work to life are the stories from volunteers and organisations. Many volunteers spoke about increased confidence, reduced loneliness and the satisfaction of contributing to something meaningful. Organisations shared how volunteer support strengthens their activities, events and services.
Volunteering remains one of the most powerful ways to build connections, confidence and community – and we’re proud to support it.
