Applicants must be delivering strategic legal work in the UK.

What’s funded

Strategic legal work that benefits disadvantaged migrant children and young people (under 25) living in poverty and facing significant disadvantage or discrimination due to their immigration status.

The SLF supports work where the impact goes beyond an individual case and is likely to influence law, policy or practice for a wider group.

Two types of strategic legal action are funded:

  • Pre-litigation research and case development, including evidence gathering, policy research, identifying potential applicants, translation, and litigation strategy development

  • Third party interventions in existing cases, where organisations act as an amicus curiae to assist the court

How much

Maximum grant: £30,000

Applicants are encouraged to request lower amounts due to limited funds.
The average grant size is around £12,000 to £15,000.
