To mark International Women’s Day 2026, WVCA is creating a series of Women’s Sector Spotlights to shine a light on the women who drive the voluntary and community sector in our city.

We want to hear from women who:

  • Work in the voluntary and community sector
  • Volunteer their time and skills
  • Access services delivered by the sector

These spotlights are about real stories, real experiences, and real impact — celebrating the many ways women contribute to, shape, and are supported by our sector.

You can share your contribution in writing (around 150–200 words) or by recording a short video of yourself answering the following question:

How has your experience in the voluntary sector allowed you to give and gain – whether through work, volunteering, or accessing services – and what has been the most meaningful part of that experience for you?

How to take part:

  • You can choose whether you’d like your contribution to be named or anonymous
  • We will ask to include at least:
  • Your role (e.g. worker, volunteer, service user)
  • The organisation you are connected to

Your story will help:

  • Showcase the breadth and impact of women’s involvement in the sector
  • Bring the “Give to Gain” theme to life
  • Celebrate the women who make our city’s voluntary and community sector what it is

Selected contributions will be featured across WVCA’s platforms during March as part of our International Women’s Day celebrations.

Whether you’re a frontline worker, a volunteer, a leader, or someone who’s benefited from support — your voice matters, and we’d love to help share it.

Don’t forget to sign up for our IWD26 event on Weds 4th March here.

If you’re hosting your own IWD event, let us know, as we’d love to share the details on our social media channels.
