The NIHR Research Support Service (RSS) Specialist Centre for Public Health is offering Public Health Grassroots Awards to help people with little or no research experience develop their research skills and knowledge. The funding can be used for a range of learning and development opportunities, including attending conferences, completing training courses, studying research methods, or spending time shadowing a research team.

Who can apply:
Individuals with little to no research experience who are interested in building their public health research skills and knowledge.

What you can get:
Up to £5,000 to support one or more research-related learning and development activities.

Deadline:
9 June 2026 (5pm)

Key notes:

  • Funding can support multiple activities up to a total value of £5,000.
  • Eligible activities include attending UK public health research conferences, completing research training, undertaking a university research methods module, or buying out salary time to shadow a research team.
