The Royal British Legion has launched a Community Grants Programme to support projects that help members of the Armed Forces community connect with others in their local area.

The programme will fund projects that bring people together, reduce loneliness and help Armed Forces communities access local support.

Projects could include regular social events, sport or shared activities, arts and creative activities, community improvement projects, youth groups for children from Armed Forces families, or work that helps people connect with welfare and wellbeing support.

Who can apply

  • Applications are open to not-for-profit organisations with a formal constitution.
  • Applicants must show that their project will support members of the British Armed Forces community who meet Royal British Legion eligibility criteria.

What you can get

  • Grants of up to £25,000 per year are available for up to two years.
  • This means organisations can apply for a maximum total grant of £50,000.

Deadline

  • Applications close at 23:59 on Sunday 2 August 2026.
  • The programme may close earlier if demand is high.
  • Decisions are expected by the end of October 2026.

Key notes

  • The programme is focused on helping members of the Armed Forces community build local connections, take part in shared activities and feel part of their community.
  • Projects should clearly show how they will reduce loneliness, bring people together and support access to local networks or services.
