Freelands Foundation has launched the Learning Through Making Fund, offering grants to support hands-on visual arts education projects taking place in the UK.
The fund is designed to support projects that help people learn through making, including workshops, events, learning activities, research that tests new ideas through hands-on activity, and new making activities added to existing programmes.
Who can apply
UK-based visual arts organisations whose work benefits the public or has a charitable purpose can apply.
Eligible applicants include:
- Charities
- Local authority galleries or museums
- Charitable organisations based within universities
- Community Interest Companies
- Community Benefit Societies
CICs and Community Benefit Societies must meet the fund’s additional eligibility rules.
What you can get
Grants of up to £25,000 are available.
Funding can support costs such as:
- Materials
- Transport
- Specialist expertise
- Access to facilities
- Workshops and events
- Learning activities
- Research that tests new ideas through hands-on activity
- New hands-on making activities added to existing programmes
Projects must take place between 1 January and 31 December 2027.
Deadline
Applications must be submitted by 12pm on 11 September 2026.
