The National Archives Research and Innovation Grants support research, innovation and transformative projects involving archive collections in England and Wales, particularly around digital transformation, environmental sustainability and inclusive practice.
Who can apply: Archivists and heritage professionals working with archive collections in England or Wales. Eligible organisations include public sector bodies, registered charities and other not-for-profit organisations, as well as for-profit organisations including business archives. Private individuals cannot apply.
What you can get: Up to £10,000 for activities including exploratory research, pilot projects, external research, research trips, events and sharing project findings.
Key notes: Projects should explore new ideas or approaches that could create positive change within the applicant organisation and potentially the wider archives sector. Applicants do not have to guarantee that their idea will succeed – experimentation and learning are encouraged.
