Historic England’s Heritage at Risk Capital Fund – Round 2 offers grants for capital projects that repair, conserve and bring historic buildings and sites at risk in England back into use.

Who can apply: Organisations or individuals with legal responsibility for the property. This includes owners, those with a full repairing lease with at least 21 years remaining, or applicants with a formal agreement to acquire the property on these terms.

What you can get: Grants of up to £1 million towards eligible costs including capital repairs, professional fees, non-recoverable VAT, project development work, accessibility adaptations and appropriate adaptive reuse.

Key notes: Priority will be given to projects in areas with the highest levels of deprivation and need for investment, particularly those delivering significant community benefit. Eligible heritage includes listed buildings, scheduled monuments, registered parks and gardens and certain significant historic assets.

Deadline: Submit an Expression of Interest by 5pm, Friday 18th September 2026, followed by a full application by 5pm, Friday 30th October 2026 for successful applicants.
