The War Memorials Trust offers grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials across the UK, Channel Islands and Isle of Man, with priority given to memorials in the greatest need.
Who can apply: Individuals and organisations, including councils. If you are not responsible for the memorial, you will need written consent from its custodian.
What you can get: Grants normally cover around 50% of eligible costs, with up to £20,000 available for freestanding, non-beneficiary memorials and up to £5,000 for non-freestanding memorials.
Key notes: Projects must follow best conservation practice and work must not have already started, including appointing a contractor. Applicants may also need to obtain two or three quotes/tenders depending on the size of the project.
Deadline: Saturday 31st October 2026 for the current application batch.
