Government legislation requires all councils to deliver the collections, which offer people an easy way to recycle leftovers, food scraps and peelings. Don’t forget that you can also recycle tea bags, egg shells, bones and even pet food!

Food waste collections can:
- Reduce household bin smells as weekly collections keep things fresher.
- Help you to save money by wasting less food.
- Turn leftovers and scraps into green energy and fertiliser
From 26 October, weekly food waste collections will begin for kerbside properties. Over the coming weeks, you’ll receive and indoor and outdoor food waste caddy, a roll of caddy liners and an information leaflet. Look out for your caddies arriving soon – please don’t start using them until the week before collections begin.
Collections will be available to all kerbside properties initially, with a further roll out to flats and other communal properties after that and information will be shared with those residents.
