Applicants must align with one of the following priorities: youth opportunities, general welfare, conservation, or heritage.
The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) launched the Community Environment Fund in October 2023, backed by £1 million from the Government’s Commonwealth Games Legacy Enhancement Fund. This initiative aims to empower communities to enhance the environment and quality of life. Grants of up to £25,000 for small projects and up to £100,000 for larger initiatives are available. Projects can focus on themes such as protecting nature, promoting circular economy practices, adapting to climate change, improving access to green spaces, and raising awareness about environmental issues.
With grants up to £3,000, the fund supports projects promoting positive change, strengthening communities, and enhancing the natural environment. Whether addressing health and wellbeing, community cohesion, or environmental initiatives, the fund remains open for applicants, with panel meetings scheduled on a rolling basis.
