The past quarter has seen continued growth in volunteering across the city. Wolverhampton Volunteers registered 278 new volunteers, bringing the year-to-date total to 757. With over 200 organisations offering 400+ opportunities, the city’s volunteering offer is diverse, welcoming and well-used.
In her 21 November message, CEO Sharon Nanan‑Sen reflects on the pressure facing the voluntary and community sector — with funding competition rising and many organisations needing to rethink income streams — and underscores that the city’s VCSE ecosystem remains resilient, with nearly 60 new groups supported this quarter, a high proportion led by people from BAME backgrounds. She emphasises how vital partnerships, infrastructure support (like bid-writing workshops) and the work of the Wolverhampton Voluntary & Community Action volunteer centre remain as charities navigate change together.
Big Give’s Arts for Impact and Earth Raise 2026 campaigns now open — charities can double donations through match funding, with streams up to £30,000 and £100,000.
Up to £10,000 available for early years projects supporting deaf children aged 0–5 through the National Deaf Children’s Society Community Grants Programme.
Small grants up to £200 available from the Geoff Hill Charitable Trust for charities and community groups in Wolverhampton and surrounding areas — apply any time.
