A message from the CEO – 28th August 2026
There’s plenty to look forward to at WVCA over the coming months, with opportunities to connect, learn and celebrate the impact of our sector. We’re especially excited to be marking 20 years of SUIT and 10 years of Social Prescribing with a special celebration at the Arena Theatre in November – recognising two services that have made a real difference to people’s lives across Wolverhampton.
Before then, we’ll be bringing the sector together for our VCSEF Alliance Meeting in October, as well as hosting a Social Investment Webinar with Tom Bostock from Big Issue Invest in September. Against a backdrop of continued challenges and change for voluntary organisations, Sharon’s latest CEO Update reflects on why it’s more important than ever to recognise our achievements, strengthen connections and continue working together.

Wolverhampton to Host UK Recovery Walk 2025
We’re delighted to announce that Wolverhampton has been chosen to host the 2025 UK Recovery Walk – a first for the city!

NCVO, backed by 7,000 organisations, urged the Chancellor to reconsider National Insurance changes costing charities £1.4bn. While the decision stands, a Civil Society Covenant is proposed to strengthen partnerships with the sector.
National Lottery Community Fund – New Funding Programmes
The National Lottery is setting out a bold new vision for how it will support communities and WVCA is looking for potential partners for a joint application.
Health and Wellbeing board backs Orange Wolves campaign
Members of Wolverhampton’s health and wellbeing board, Health and Wellbeing Together, are backing this year’s Orange Wolverhampton campaign, which runs until 10th December.

WVCA is planning a ‘Meet the Funder’ event with The National Lottery Community Fund. To align with the lottery’s funding changes, we’ve moved the event to May 2025.
